Chuckawalla Historical Releases
Chuckawalla Valley State Prison was a CDCR prison in the Blythe area. CDCR’s facility information states that CVSP was deactivated in November 2024. That fact controls the release path. No current release should be described as being processed from Chuckawalla after deactivation unless an individual CDCR record specifically shows a historical custody or release event tied to that facility.
The practical search path is still CDCR. Use CIRIS for public California prison records, and use CDCR contact channels for records that do not appear in the public search. If the person was transferred before or during deactivation, CIRIS may show a different current location, parole status, or other state custody result. A former Chuckawalla connection does not mean the current release source remains Chuckawalla.
This is also not a Riverside Sheriff jail page. Blythe Jail is the county jail in the area. Ironwood State Prison is the active CDCR prison in Blythe. Chuckawalla is a former CDCR institution. The facility names may be close, but the release records belong to different agencies and time periods.

Confirm Chuckawalla Records
For a person formerly held at Chuckawalla, the key issue is whether the search is about past custody, later transfer, parole, discharge, or a current location after the facility closed. CDCR records can show prison identity fields and current status when public. Riverside court records may explain a sentence from Riverside County, but they do not replace CDCR’s prison custody record.

- Match the result by name, age, CDCR number, commitment county, and admission date.
- Look for current location, parole status, released status, or a facility transfer clue.
- Review parole eligible date and Board of Parole Hearing actions if the case type includes them.
- Use CDCR contact channels if the public search does not show the historical detail needed.
- Use Riverside Superior Court only to confirm the local sentence or commitment record.

Chuckawalla Records Contact
Because Chuckawalla is deactivated, the contact card should not imply that the facility is taking current release calls. CDCR is the agency source. CIRIS and CDCR contact channels are the practical public route for state prison records, while BPH resources apply to parole-suitability records when the case type fits.

When asking about a historical CDCR record, provide the CDCR number, full name, date of birth or age, approximate dates at Chuckawalla, any later known facility, commitment county, and court case number if known. For old Riverside County commitments, the court portal may supply the case trail, but CDCR remains the prison record source.
Chuckawalla Deactivation Context
Riverside County’s facility map has unusual state prison history. Ironwood is active in Blythe. California Rehabilitation Center remains active in the July 13, 2026 research posture, with closure planned by fall 2026. Chuckawalla was already deactivated in November 2024. That mix makes it easy to misread a release question. A person connected to Chuckawalla before deactivation may now have records showing transfer, parole, discharge, or another CDCR status.
Do not use the county recent-release pages for a Chuckawalla prison question. Riverside County did not have an official separate 24-hour or 72-hour recent-release feed in the sources reviewed, and those county pages concern Sheriff jail custody. Chuckawalla Search Fallbacks
If CIRIS does not return the person, absence can mean several things. The person may be listed under another name, may have an old or nonpublic record, may have been transferred, may have discharged, or may never have been in CDCR custody. It may also mean the question belongs to Blythe Jail, another county jail, BOP federal custody, or ICE custody. Match the custody system before drawing a conclusion.
BOP’s inmate locator covers federal prisoners from 1982 forward and can show Released or Not in BOP Custody. ICE ODLS is the immigration custody path when a county or state record suggests immigration detention. USMS public information is more restricted. These are fallback systems, not replacements for CDCR records when the person was held at Chuckawalla.
For a Riverside County state-prison case, the local court record may explain the conviction and sentence. The release itself remains a CDCR event. Use the Riverside County released inmates search path when the custody system is unclear, then route to the right agency page once the jail, prison, federal, or immigration path is known.
Historical Chuckawalla questions also need a date range. A record from before November 2024 may show CVSP as the institution tied to housing, programming, classification, or a parole-board event. A search after deactivation may show Ironwood, another CDCR prison, parole, discharge, or a different current location. That does not erase the old Chuckawalla connection. It means the public search has moved from facility identity to current state custody status.
When the person’s name is common, use more than one identifier. CDCR number, age, admission date, commitment county, and known court case number help separate a former Chuckawalla prisoner from a Blythe Jail detainee or an Ironwood prisoner. If none of those fields can be matched, the safer record request is a narrow CDCR inquiry for historical custody and release information, not a broad county jail question.
